We all remember the story of Democracy in action last week, where Black Panthers with nightsticks intimidated white voters in Philadelphia. They said to people coming to vote that "A black man is going to win this election." And with their help, a black man won.
Lest we forget too soon, the full story is here, but below is one of the two videos from the story.
This is not the first time the Black Panthers supplemented their First Amendment rights with weaponry. Back in June of 2000, a black guy was scheduled to be executed in Texas. The Black Panthers and their Muslim leader opposed the execution, and showed up at the Republican Convention to "protest" . . . with shotguns and AK-47s.

This was not widely publicized by the MSM, but the local news ran a couple of stories.
Tensions in the already intense debate over convicted killer Gary Graham's scheduled execution escalated Friday as a dozen armed black activists shoved a delegate outside the state Republican convention in downtown Houston.Kaufman County delegate A.J. McClure was pushed to the ground by one of the rifle-wielding guards surrounding Quanell X shortly after the Muslim leader began protesting outside the George R. Brown Convention Center.
McClure, a disabled veteran, quickly rose to his feet and said he was not hurt, but he was later taken by ambulance to an area hospital as a precaution. . . .
Quanell X's group - comprising members of the New Black Panther Party, the National Black United Front and the New Black Muslim Movement - arrived wearing all black, except for Quanell X. Many carried shotguns, AK-47s and other rifles.
It is legal in Texas to carry such firearms openly as long as the carrier is not a felon and does not aim the weapon at anyone. . . .
"We believe we have a divine right, a divine duty and a divine obligation to stand up for any black man on Death Row about to be executed . . . for a crime he didn't commit," Quanell X said.
But when McClure began shouting over Quanell X, the activist, still surrounded by guards, approached McClure. That is when one of the guards shoved McClure.
"I was trying to back up and he pushed me down," McClure said. "I'm a 100 percent disabled veteran and shouldn't be treated that way."
The activists left soon afterward in a Hummer limousine.
A couple of days later, on the day of the scheduled execution the boys in black were back.
Since the historic Cafe Texan opened near the courthouse square here in 1936, diners have never been turned away on an execution day.But with the anticipated arrival of angry protesters - both for and against the scheduled death of convicted killer Gary Graham - at the Walls Unit today just a few blocks from the diner, owner John Strickland is closing the doors at 2 p.m.
"I've had to turn people away before because my cook didn't show up or we were out of something," Strickland said. "But we've never had to worry about an execution. With all the different groups coming up and all the threats, for my employees' welfare I'm sending them home." . . .
But after the show of force in Houston last week by black activists carrying shotguns and rifles at the state Republican Convention, many here are concerned not only about the number of protesters expected but just exactly how they plan to protest. One delegate was assaulted at a protest during the convention. . . .
"This is a different kind of thing," Wagamon said. "Mr. Graham has talked about the people who support him and how they plan to support him . . . . This gives us a picture that there may be violence."
Shortly before a previously scheduled execution date last year, Graham called on his supporters to come armed with AK-47s. And earlier this year New Black Muslim Movement leader Quanell X, who planned the demonstration in Houston last week, urged young blacks to take out their anger against whites in wealthy neighborhoods instead of in their own community if the execution is not delayed.
It seems to me that President Barack Obama, being a black man, will be in a unique position to address this kind of racially charged intimidation by radical black groups. He is immune (according to liberal dogma), as a black liberal president of all Americans, from any charges of racism in addressing the issue. So, the question is will he condemn them and try to heal the wounds they have created in our society?
Then again, as a parishioner in Reverend Wright's Black Liberation Church and a friend of Louis Farrakhan, perhaps he will opt to stay silent.
It would be nice to know his thoughts.
Just looking for a little Hope and Change here.
H/T to Tom
