Happy National Ammo Day!

I have never heard of this holiday, but it's a lot cooler than others like Arbor Day or Earth Day. According to the folks at National Ammo Day, this is a day to flex our 2nd Amendment muscle.

November 19 is National Ammo Day.

It is a nationwide BUYcott of ammunition. You buy ammunition. 100 Rounds a person.

The goals of Ammo Day:

The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known--by voting with your dollars!

There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that’s 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens!

And there you have a clear picture of the wisdom of the Founding Fathers. We are immune from an invasion by a foreign army, because, after the long swim, they would be faced with more fire-power from every nook and hole in the entire country than they could hope to deal with. There was a preview in April 1775 of the (future) 2nd Amendment in action. I don't think the British troops who were headed back to Boston after Lexington and Concord liked it all that much.

Other noteworthy mentions.

Facts:

* Number of firearms in America: 228,000,000

* Number of firearm owning households: At least 50,600,000

* Projected firearm owning households in America: 60-85 million

* Number of guns used in crimes: 450,000

* Percentage of guns used in crimes: 0.09%

Over 50 million law-abiding, gun owning households committed NO crime today… but collectively, we stop 2.5 million crimes per year… 6,849 a day!

Fact: Every day, 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes are prevented just by showing a gun. In less than 0.9% of the time is the gun ever actually fired.

Of course, gun sales have gone through the roof since Obama was elected, which tells us that the free market doesn't believe Obama's phony assertion that he supports the 2nd Amendment. The free market looks at his record of supporting a ban on handguns and a ban on right-to-carry laws and acts accordingly.

Buy them before he bans them.

It is also probably no coincidence that Obama's plan for a Civilian Defense Force, as powerful and as well-funded as the military (read Obama Brown-Shirts), may have caused people to be interested in protecting themselves from all manner of threats that could arise.
