Iranian Woman Shot to Death on Video, Obama Goes for Ice Cream

Obama won't back the protesters because if the thugocracy crushes them, Barry will need to negotiate with the mullahs. It's getting harder and harder to justify that position when you see stuff like this. This woman was reportedly just standing with her father watching the protests when the Iranian State Police gunned her down. If you would prefer to go for ice cream, like the president did this afternoon, instead of witnessing the tyranny that Obama is appeasing, I don't blame you. But then again, you are not the President of the United States.

WARNING: The woman dies before your eyes.

Video is on a Facebook account here.

H/T to Ace, who has lots more.

UPDATE:

Our good friend American Genie gave us a good link for more graphic footage of the carnage in Iran. While seeing stuff like this may be distasteful, it is the real world, it is America's real enemy, and Obama is really going to have to deal with these people. So when the appeasement continues (and that is exactly what this is), let's not hear about how the United States had no idea how bad these guys were. These are the bad guys. Good guys like us defeat guys like them.

See remaining Iran coverage here.

Thanks for this post, Bill. I'll take your word as far as the video goes. People need to know what is going on in Iran.

I posted some links at my blog to a site run by a fellow named Alan Peters that had some pretty graphic still photos from inside Iran. It's horrible what is happening.

I urge everyone who prays to pray for the innocents in Iran.

God bless America!

Thanks for the info Genie. I updated the post with your links.

The Pro Iranian Militia that's fighting the protestors, is something that Mr. Obama had proposes for the US. Remember, the "Civilian Force" with authority and funding equal to the Military. Scary Stuff!

Keith Hale on 2009-06-22 10:49:09

Robert L., your post is my sentiments exactly. We need to be very wary of this "Civilian Force". It could turn out to be the modern day "Brown Shirts".

Harrison on 2009-06-21 01:00:20

So if he didn't get ice cream the woman would have lived? Should Bush have not gone to vacation with his dad in Maine when troops were dying in Iraq?

Bill Dupray on 2009-06-21 14:17:26

My point was apparently lost on both Harrison and Kelly. The "going for ice cream," while literally true, was meant metaphorically as a criticism of Obama's policy on this crisis. He is simply not in the game. He is screwing around trying to nationalize health care, which most assuredly does not need nationalizing, while people are gunned down in the streets of one of America's most belligerent and dangerous enemies.

Does Obama lose some sort of high ground by saying America stands, as it always has, for free people to speak freely, govern themselves, and live without tyranny and oppression from their own government and that he condemns the government of Iran for its actions? If you want to be cynical about it, if Obama is concerned that he won't be able to talk Iran out of it's nukes (heh - he wouldn't be the only one who thought that) once he does that, then he can give the mullahs a wink and tell them that politically that is what he had to say.

Once again, this is appeasement: let murderous thugs get away with murderous deeds against innocent people, rationalize the thugs' actions, and make no sudden moves to anger them further lest they take things one step further. The Austrians and Czechoslovakians in the late 1930's would recognize this policy in a New York minute.

I love putting you on the defensive, Bill. You have your fun dangling me on a hook now and then. This time I got you. Smile.

But I completely agree with you. I remember vividly the wise-ass libs talking about W reading to children and all the smackdowns throughout his presidency. I remember the same things with Reagan. Then their petard was hoist as they defended Clinton getting a blowjob in the oval office from an intern as a "personal issue" and "just sex" - positions clearly not afforded republicans.

And now they miff about defending Obama. It is more transparent than even his claims of transparency.

One thing wholly lacking in libs is a single standard. They judge based upon party affiliation, and that is just disappointing.

Joe Biden on 2009-06-21 15:29:43

Harrison, you are an idiot. He went to get ice cream instead of dealing with the Iranian Crisis. Perhaps if he tried a little harder to, ya know, be president. Less people would have died. But of course a moron democrat like you would just take a shot at Bush instead of facing the facts. Moron.

Clyde on 2009-06-21 15:39:34

Little harsh, Joe, but I get your point.

To me, it was not ice cream or b'ball when other presidents go to church, it is the cumulative effect of O's "present" votes on all the tough shots, how consistently he backs down on positions (Turkey when Egypt and Jordan said no, NK when China balked, Russia, etc.).

It's as if all O knows what to do is take a position as if it were a political trial balloon, and then he pulls the the tether when the winds are too strong.

That, to me, is why people can criticize ice cream - his entire presidency is doing personal stuff. No strong leadership. No strongly held positions. Nothing.

If he stood for something steadfastly, maybe it would give a basis for discussion. But even healthcare - he says he wants it and DOESN'T SUBMIT A DRAFT. "Let the legislative branch figure it out." OMG.

Just disappointing.

btw, Harrison's a nice guy.

American Genie on 2009-06-22 09:46:44

Joe,

I understand your point also, but Harrison is not an idiot, nor a moron & when one attacks someone else with name calling like you did here it does not help the conservative cause.

While I do not agree with Harrison about everything I have noted that he is always calm & insightful with his comments. No need to attack him that way.

I have on occasion been frustrated & angry enough to resort to name calling, but always regret it when I do because it adds nothing to the discussion & makes me look like a horse's ass. Look in the mirror next time you want to call someone an idiot or a moron. Try it on for size.

Politicians are the exception to the rule. however. :-)

God bless America!

kelly on 2009-06-21 11:21:57

and what would you prefer he do? would you like him to bunker down in his lair, like Cheney? or would you rather he go chop wood, like Bush?

Clyde on 2009-06-21 11:36:15

Kelly, I didn't write this post nor do I approve of the blithe criticism of Obama going for ice cream. However, Vice President Cheney was being protected from an unknown quantum of attack when he was in his "lair" as you put it. W chopping wood? Not sure of the reference.

But Obama's issue is that he is on the sidelines. Iran is cracking down worse than Tienanmen. The UK is active in its support of the people's rights to demonstrate. Even Slovenia is stepping up with embassy support for wounded. Obama is caught in his own web - if the "revolution" (if that is not too strong a word, fails, he thinks he won't be able to do his talking thing on the nuclear front. So he is frozen in position. He's already said that a new administration there probably wouldn't change - see the Iran Revolution v2.0 post. It is Newsweek criticizing him - not just me.

Being frozen in place, afraid to lead - is not being on the right side of history on this issue.

  • NY23d: Hoffman makes it official: he'll run for...

Douglas L. Hoffman rode a strong wave of conservative activism to a second-place finish in last fall's special election in the 23rd Congressional District. Now the Lake Placid accountant — and adopted son of the Tea Party movement — is back for a second try, but not without some competition. Mr. Hoffman formally entered the race for the Republican nomination Monday, telling his supporters in a letter posted to his Web site that he "will defeat Bill Owens" if there's a rematch. Listen to our interview with Doug on Liberty Pundits.

  • Smackdown time - The Hill: Alexander, Gregg thr...

Senate Republican Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and ranking Republican Finance Committee member Judd Gregg (N.H.) said they will force votes on virtually every sentence of the healthcare reform bill to overcome Democrats' parliamentary maneuver. Gregg said Republicans would force votes on a provision in the 1974 bill that says reconciliation can only be used to amend laws, plus another longstanding Senate rule that says reconciliation can only be used for budget-related issues, plus yet another Senate rule that says 60 votes are necessary to waive the budget-only rule. Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) sent a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) that insisted he had 41 votes for the last roadblock, thereby denying Democrats the magic 60.

  • Dems give up on flipping Stupak 12

House leaders have concluded they cannot change a divisive abortion provision in President Barack Obama's health care bill and will try to pass the sweeping legislation without the support of ardent anti-abortion Democrats. A break on abortion would remove a major obstacle for Democratic leaders in the final throes of a yearlong effort to change health care in the United States. But it sets up a risky strategy of trying to round up enough Democrats to overcome, not appease, a small but possibly decisive group of Democratic lawmakers in the House.

  • Senate Parliamentarian: Obama must sign bill as...

The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled that President Barack Obama must sign Congress’ original health care reform bill before the Senate can act on a companion reconciliation package, senior GOP sources said Thursday. The Senate Parliamentarian’s Office was responding to questions posed by the Republican leadership. The answers were provided verbally, sources said. House Democratic leaders have been searching for a way to ensure that any move they make to approve the Senate-passed $871 billion health care reform bill is followed by Senate action on a reconciliation package of adjustments to the original bill. One idea is to have the House and Senate act on reconciliation prior to House action on the Senate’s original health care bill.

  • House votes overwhelmingly to investigate Pelos...

The House voted Thursday to open an ethics investigation into what and when House Democratic leaders knew of allegations of sexual harassment against former Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.). The House overwhelmingly backed a privileged resolution offered by GOP Leader John Boehner (Ohio) that will have the Ethics Committee look into what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), and other Democratic leaders and staffers knew about allegations of sexual harassment against Massa, and when they became aware of the situation. The Republican resolution came amid reports that members of Pelosi's staff had been allegedly been notified of the situation in Massa's office as early as last year.

  • House GOP votes to ban all earmarks

This would be called leading while in the minority. The Dems only ban some earmarks. GOP bans 'em all.
House Republicans approved a conference-wide moratorium on earmarks on Thursday one day after a House committee enacted a ban on for-profit earmarks. The Republican's moratorium is more extensive than the House Appropriations Committee's ban in that it applies to all earmarks for all members of their caucus. "For millions of Americans, the earmark process in Congress has become a symbol of a broken Washington," they said. "We believe the time has come for House Republicans to adopt an immediate, unilateral moratorium on all earmarks."

  • Gallup: Record number of people believe Global ...

There is lots of good stuff in this poll. Support for the Warmists is dropping off a cliff (or off a melting glacier, if you prefer).
Gallup's annual update on Americans' attitudes toward the environment shows a public that over the last two years has become less worried about the threat of global warming, less convinced that its effects are already happening, and more likely to believe that scientists themselves are uncertain about its occurrence. In response to one key question, 48% of Americans now believe that the seriousness of global warming is generally exaggerated, up from 41% in 2009 and 31% in 1997, when Gallup first asked the question.
That increase to 48% is fully 7 points higher than last year, which was also a record high.

  • Dem Rep Holden (PA) - No

The good part is the breadth of his No - read on: Holden, D-17, voted against the health care reform bill last year. However, another vote will likely be held soon, as the House appears set to pass the Senate's version of the bill. Johnson and others believe Holden is likely having "his arm twisted" by Democratic leaders eager to turn his "no" vote to a "yes" vote the second time around. However, in a telephone interview Wednesday night, Holden said his position will not change. "I will not vote for the Senate bill," Holden said. "It makes significant cuts to Medicare and Medicaid ... and the restrictions on (federal funding for) abortion are not as strong."

  • VA set to outlaw individual mandates - 34 more ...

The Virginia General Assembly has given final approval to a bill that would make it illegal for the government to require individuals to purchase health insurance, a measure intended to conflict with Democratic efforts to reform health care in Washington. Thirty-four other states are weighing similar legislation to block the individual mandate, which is an element of bills that have passed both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. But Virginia is the first state to complete legislative action on such a bill.

These people stop at nothing to buy what they want: "At the same time, Obama intends to lobby wavering House Democrats to vote for a Senate version of the legislation and to support the subsequent reconciliation process, which Republicans have characterized as an unjustified use of majority power. Among the rewards Obama is ready to offer, White House officials said, are election-year visits to competitive congressional districts, where a presidential appearance can bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds."
