How many times did we hear about Karl Rove or other White House staff being subpoenaed to testify before Congress, grand juries, and any other kangaroo tribunal the left could cobble together? The media would breathlessly play Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid talking about nobody being above the law, ducking subpoenas, etc.
Well nobody in the MSM seems to have noticed that on the 5th day of the Obama Administration, a whole slew of Obama staffers, supporters, and friends were subpoenaed in the Blagojevich scandal.
Doug Ross is on it.
A veritable "who's who" of Obama staffers, surrogates and affiliates were among those served with subpoenas. Put simply, within one week of President Barack Obama's administration taking office, it is already under significant legal scrutiny that will -- at a minimum -- take precious time away from dealing with the country's monumental economic and foreign policy challenges. And, once again, the mainstream media is AWOL, unwilling to report on this very newsworthy story.
Among those served with subpoenas were:
David Axelrod, Obama's "Karl Rove" and the biggest surprise on the list. Obama's team issued a report in December that said his staff had no "inappropriate contact" with Blago, so the inclusion of Axelrod is a bit of a shock.
Valerie Jarrett, Blago's "Senate Candidate 1", a real estate management executive and political hack of the first order. Her ties to failed and fraudulent real estate deals in Chicago were the subject of numerous investigations and should have instantly disqualified her for any public office.
Rahm Emanuel was already deeply involved in the case with some reports describing as many as 21 conversations with Blago's office during the period in question.
Tony Rezko, Obama's first advocate, fundraiser and adviser, was convicted last year on numerous charges related to kickbacks, and is now awaiting sentencing. Rezko is "cooperating with authorities, FBI Agent Daniel Cain said in an affidavit."
There are more than 20 more names of people and organizations at the link. And here I thought that Obama's guys absolved Obama's guys of any wrongdoing.
If the Bush Administration had been tied to a scandal involving President Bush's replacement for governor of Texas, and subpoenas had been issued for senior White House staff, suffice it to say the only story in town would have been the "rocky start" to the new Administration.
But the MSM doesn't want to spoil Obama's party. After all, he is so cool and looks really good in the Hawaiian surf.

This is the first time in 8 years we have had a Democrat Administration. Eight years ago there were far fewer blogs and web sites, like this one, who would vigilantly chronicle all of this stuff. I wonder if the MSM will be able to cover for these guys as much as they have in the past. I doubt it. The media will still stonewall and whitewash, but they won't get away with it as much.

According to these rulings, such health legislation creates a statutory requirement for abortion funding, unless Congress clearly forbids such funding. That is why the Hyde amendment was needed in 1976, to stop Medicaid from funding 300,000 abortions a year. The statutory mandate construed by the courts would override any executive order or regulation. This is the unanimous view of our legal advisors and of the experts we have consulted on abortion jurisprudence. Only a change in the law enacted by Congress, not an executive order, can begin to address this very serious problem in the legislation."

[Democrats] have inserted . . . a provision that it would take a supermajority of 67 votes in the Senate for future legislative bodies to even consider amendments to its provisions for "death panels." . . . The bill states, "It shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection." That subsection addresses rules and regulations that doctors would be ordered to follow by the "Independent Medicare Advisory Boards a/k/a the Death Panels," RedState reported.

The real difference is that Bush and Co. as the lefties like to call them, where never charged with anything, yet the media convicted them in the court of public opinion. Obama and Co. will probably slip through this Blago case unscathed, even though we all know what goes on in Chicago, for the last 80 years. If Bush and Co. had been from Chicago, i would have thought they were guilty of something as well.
