for Months after last health vote, many Dems in tougher reelection races on 2010-03-16 05:07:45

  • Really? The last thing I want are liberal ideologues in office who don't have to worry about getting re-elected and can just vote their beliefs. If there were term limits right now, ObamaCare would already have been signed into law.

  • Many southern conservatives backed the segregation of the South as a states-rights issue. It was a poor decision, certainly impacted by racism on the parts of some. States never had the right to carry out policies that were unconstitutional. Over the years, most of that segment of the conservative population has passed on or come to understand how wrong it was. Despite that, the GOP is the party of Lincoln and the party that led the civil rights fight. When the GOP stopped at equal rights and balked at giving people extra advantages based on skin color, the Dems switched the discussion and started framing the GOP (and conservatives) as racist on that basis. Because, of course, refusing to distinguish between people on the basis of skin color is racist.

  • The main thing causing jobs to leave this country and businesses to set up shop in other nations is that our obscene corporate tax rate is now among the highest in the world, whereas it used to be among the lowest in the world. The federal government, through confiscatory taxes on employers, is forcing businesses and jobs to be sent to where they are profitable. Lower our corporate tax rate to 15% or so, and we would see a manufacturing boom in America like we've never seen before - especially in right to work (non-union) states. Businesses would swoop in and employ millions of Americans, because it would once again be profitable to do so. Yes, blame your government. But it's for the same reason it usually is, an addiction to tax dollars and no desire to budget.

  • Lets recap the high lights with all the crap washed away.... Ohhh ohhh... toes stepped on... Ouch... I know... I'll look for the E-mail... lol ~~Bush lost because he didn't raise taxes ?????????? (Harrison)~~ ~~Excellent response, Harrison~~ (Scott Martin)~~~ Out of context Scott? Or do you agree here too??? LOL... We shall see... Any way Harrison/Scott… Twist away... All you want now… You have shown your true colors now so your words mean little to me anymore… Oh and Scott we have had a leftist in the WH George Bush the elder... He laid the tracks for what we see today the others just continued the lie.... Frank, you need to learn to read with understanding and without emotion clouding your thoughts. Harrison meant that GHWB lost because he broke his no new taxes pledge, in other words he lost because of "no new taxes." Which is true. And his response was excellent. Harrison is not on the opposite side. Harrison is a conservative, he just isn't a social conservative. You show a lot of ignorance arguing against his economic analysis. I disagree with him on the social issues, but that doesn't mean I need to get upset at him as you do. Free trade is not a leftist idea, Frank, free trade is hard-core rightward. You have been deceived. America was founded on freedom, yet you don't believe people should be free to do business with whomever they want to. Who's the leftist, Frank? Call me a closet liberal again, Frank. Knock yourself out. Read everything I've ever written on this site and find one thing that anyone would consider even slightly liberal. My record stands on its own. As for us having a leftist in Bush the elder, that's exactly what I said... I believe you are wrong, however, in saying that the GOP will lose if it goes to the right. Years of study can say all they want, but the GOP won with a far right candidate the last time Americans were pissed off about a horrible economy and a nation being viewed weakly abroad. Record landslides, I seem to recall. And the right was set up to hold sway for a long time, except it allowed centrist-GHWB to follow in King Ron's seat, break his no new taxes pledge, and delve the GOP into this mushy "compassionate conservatism" based on nothingness that brought us Clinton. But even one Bush wasn't enough to move America away from the right, as Newt and Pals took back Congress on the most unabashedly conservative platform ever presented. Only when GWB carried on after his father did the GOP nearly become irrelevant. My whole point was about how GHWB and GWB nearly killed the GOP by pushing it so far fiscally to the left.

America is a center-right country and a GOP candidate who positions himself well to the right-of-center will be in a perfect position to win in 2012.

  • Excellent response, Harrison. Free trade makes every nation involved on-net more prosperous than they otherwise would be. Always has, always will, because there isn't even a hypothetical way that it can't. Unfortunately, it's a fact that many of those who lose jobs in certain sectors as freedom is expanded aren't able to comprehend, and so they blame their own personal losses on the blessing of free trade. Sad, really.

  • http://blog.afroconservative.com/2009/10/01/liberal-democrats-destroyed-black-america-who-wants-next.aspx "The disproportionate crime rates, illegitimacy rates, divorce rates, drugs abuse, and disproportionate incarceration rates didn't begin until liberals took over the Black Community in the 60s. Before liberals came and negated the influence of the Black father, over 80 percent of black children in 1960 were born in wedlock. In 1940 the illegitimacy rate amongst Blacks was 19 percent. Today, post the liberals monopoly in the poor urban areas, the illegitimacy rate is over 70 percent and almost 90 percent in the inner city. Surprisingly, between 1890 and 1940 Blacks had a marriage rate slightly higher than Whites. According to Herbert G. Gutman author of "The Black Family in Slavery and Freedom (1750-1925)"-- for every 6 children under the age of under the age of 6-5 of them lived in two parent households. In Harlem between 1905 and 1925, only 3 percent of all families were headed by a woman under 30. In this same time period, 85 percent of black children lived in two-parent families."
