Round-up: Silent Amnesty International, Vocal Unions

Just finished reading David Limbaugh's great piece on deconstructing a snippet from Obama's latest interview with HRC's child prodigy, George Stephanopoulos ("Stephanie"). It's always a struggle reading anything attributable to Stephanie - even if the words are merely in response to one of his questions. Expand the Stepherience to television, and in particular his latest coffee-clutch routine, and he reaches the rarefied air of "dry-heaves inducing." If the Administration wants to reduce health-care costs, they can loop this fool on a hospital video to replace all the equipment needed to pump stomachs and void bowels. Portable DVD player + Hose to clean up patient = Field Hospital. Obama just sent three Gitmo lads to Slovenia. That leaves 193 to disburse - 85 or so to Gitmo North, and the rest to parts unknown. ...

Missouri: State-level pubs and dems trying to make ballot initiatives harder

(h/t Ballot Access News) One republican and two democrats have introduced three separate bills all designed to make it more difficult to get ballot initiatives in front of the voters. Let's put this succinctly: What is wrong with you clowns? Republican version, Bill Summary: HJR 63 -- Initiative Petitions

Upon voter approval, this proposed constitutional amendment changes the requirements for submitting an initiative petition that proposes an amendment to the Missouri Constitution by increasing the number of signatures required from 8% to 15% of the legal voters in each of two-thirds of the state's Congressional districts before it may be placed on the ballot. The number of signatures required for a petition proposing a law is increased from 5% to 10% of those voters.
The effect seems to be a ...

Notes: What a happy week to be a conservative

I was updating my Twitter followers (ClydePRM2 - I follow everyone that is kind enough to follow me provided they twat politics), and I saw this twat: "Brown wins, kills health bill, 1st amendment affirmed, Air America goes under. Did I go 2 sleep +wake up in my Happy Place?" It was CMDeB retwatting MandyConnell. But she forgot that Obama just announced all these new bank regulations he wants to put in place, and the markets tanked as a result (is the idiot trying force a double-dip recession?). Then the Treasury Secretary says he doesn't think Obama has such a good idea there. Even more, the Three Dead Musketeers - Nelson, Landrieu, and Lincoln - all come out against Obama's Regulatory Police doing their global warming regs. The list goes on. This has been a week of voters, justices, and appointed and ...

Schumer calls Campaign Finance ruling "Un-American"; let's visit his history

Immediately following today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to restore key free speech provisions in political campaigns, New York’s senior U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the ruling “un-American” and announced that as Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, he intends to hold Senate hearings to examine the impact of this decision.

For those who have not closely followed Senator Schumer’s political career and fundraising prowess over the years, you might not immediately recognize the remarkable hypocrisy and shamelessness of his statement today. In reporting on this matter, please consider the following response and background information from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC):

“Anyone who has followed the career of New York’s senior Senator knows that ‘shame’ is not a

Blogger rumblings: Congress needs to be replaced. Rinse and repeat.

Keith is a friend of mine. Well, two old guys meeting in the way people meet these days: On Twitter, through some e-mails, but never in person. I have every reason to believe his name is Keith, that he's a dude, and that he's older like me ... but that's a part of the faith we all develop in this new world. Yes, this preamble was needed. Keith is not an attorney. I am. When a non-attorney writes about SCOTUS reining in Congress, as Keith has, about the expansion of the Commerce Clause - I find myself saying, "Wait, it's a little more complex than that. If you want to get excised about Congress' abuse of the Commerce Clause, check out SCOTUS's abuse of the General Welfare Clause - good lord, they gave power to a preamble! And then there ...

If You Want To Say The Pledge of Allegiance, You'll Have to Leave the Room

Pledge of Allegiance Pictures, Images and Photos
Get out kid.
This is a great catch by New Conservative. It seems that the Commies in Vermont don't want to embarrass kids who don't want to say the Pledge, so they make the ones who do, leave the room. This story sounds like how American kids would have to conduct themselves in a foreign country. If you were attending a school in Spain and wanted to pledge allegiance to the United States, they would probably have you step out of the room to do it, so as not to offend your host, the citizens of Spain. In this case, it is Americans in Vermont who are offended by American children reciting the American Pledge of Allegiance. But we can't ...

Is The Congressman Who Warned of Obama Dictatorship Really Crazy?

Gotta love the stones on this guy.

A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship. "It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may - may not, I hope not - but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism." Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military. "That's ...

UPDATE #3: Video response from superintendent, Dr. William Harrison.

He's on it. I'll take it. UPDATE #2: Diamond Tiger in the comments gave us a link to Ms. Placed Democrat, which has a good update. The teacher has apologized to the parents (how about the student?), and the superintendent, Dr. William Harrison, has begun and investigation. He appears to be all over this and looks to be readying a big can of Whoop-ass for the teacher once the investigation is completed. It looks like another sterling example of free speech combined with worldwide exposure via the internet, leading to corrective action of unacceptable behavior in a small locality. Just as it should be. ...
