2d Amendment moment: Driver Shoots His Way Out Of Submerged Car
It's a great day in America: Authorities said the 28-year-old man was driving in his station wagon on Industrial Avenue on the bridge over Pleasant Grove Creek when a hands-free cell phone device activated, startling him and causing the vehicle to veer into the chilly waters just before 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
The man, employed as an armed security officer at Thunder Valley Casino, found himself trapped inside his car about six to eight feet below the surface in the 50-degree water.
The Roseville Fire Department said the man used his handgun to shoot out his vehicle window, giving himself an opportunity to escape and swim to safety.

It's a Chicago law, go figure. From WaPo.
The Supreme Court agreed Wednesday to decide whether strict local and state gun control laws violate the Second Amendment, ensuring another high-profile battle over the rights of gun owners. The court said it will review a lower court ruling that upheld a handgun ban in Chicago. Gun rights supporters challenged gun laws in Chicago and some suburbs immediately following the high court's decision in June 2008 that struck down a handgun ban in the District of Columbia, a federal enclave. The new case tests whether last year's ruling applies as well to local and state laws.It is time to apply the 2nd Amendment to the states and be done with this. Note that Sotomayor has already ruled as an ...

Absolutely remarkable. A 51 year-old man lives with his father in a trailer. Thirty-four years ago - as a minor - the man was arrested with a friend that had forged a check. That made him a "former felon." His father collects guns. The dozen or so guns are secured in a safe. With search warrant in hand, "15 officers from the U.S. bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and local police" surround the trailer, use a battering ram on an unlocked door, throw people to the floor, point guns at their heads, handcuff them, and proceed to trash the place. Why? "The family was told by ATF officers that the agency received a tip six weeks ago that a convicted felon was living at the home and had access to guns." ...

Obama won't be president for another 3 days and the Libs in Congress are already off their medication. First from David Codrea, we learn that Rep. Bobby Rush wants to keep a very close eye on you and your guns. Text of his bill is here. Among its great new Big Brother provisions is a requirement that all handguns be registered with and licensed by the Attorney General. Then, once you register, you'd better learn all the new rules, otherwise you go to the slammer.
It shall be unlawful for any individual to whom a firearm license has been issued... to fail to report to the Attorney General a change in the address of that individual within 60 days of that change of address. . . . ...

This post on - of all things - Big Hollywood got me thinking. (A quick aside - I think, inverting-the-universe as this is, that Big Hollywood may be a center-right view of that moral abyss. Let's watch it and see where it goes. I like the posts so far.) The issue is gun locks, more specifically, trigger locks. With Bambi and full dem Congress, we can expect gun-control legislation of some form. We need to see if it works and, more importantly, if the fear mongering they spout about gun rights is accurate. The bottom line: No on both counts. Do I own a trigger lock? No. I used to practice criminal-defense law. I give lectures on criminal theory and reality now. I am ...

It is no secret that Barack Obama wants to ban semi-automatic weapons. And while under Heller, such a ban would likely violate the 2nd Amendment, liberals don't care about the Constitution. They pass the laws anyway, violate our rights, and are content to wait years for the courts to tell them the law is unconstitutional. If the American people are so easily duped by smooth and empty rhetoric as to elect Barack Obama, it will not be all that difficult to for the same silver tongue to tell the people that semi-automatic weapons are extremely dangerous, waved a couple of them around in a Congressional hearing, and ban them. And while hunters, police, and members of the Armed Forces (as well as anyone who pays reasonably close attention to these things) can tell ...

I have never heard of this holiday, but it's a lot cooler than others like Arbor Day or Earth Day. According to the folks at National Ammo Day, this is a day to flex our 2nd Amendment muscle.
November 19 is National Ammo Day. It is a nationwide BUYcott of ammunition. You buy ammunition. 100 Rounds a person. The goals of Ammo Day: The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known--by voting with your dollars! There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second ...

Gotta love the stones on this guy.
A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship. "It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may - may not, I hope not - but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism." Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military. "That's ...

The Supreme Court today struck down the District of Columbia's ridiculous regulations which banned handguns and required shotguns and rifles to be kept in a manner inconsistent with their effective use -- disassembled and under trigger lock. So people who know how to read, and therefore understand what "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" means, are supposed to be overjoyed over this 5-4 ruling today?
Not me. This is asinine! Now I normally try to look at the positives, but there aren't too many positives to look at when you realize that we were one freaking vote away from losing our 2nd Amendment rights.
With the court split evenly ideologically (4 liberals, 4 conservatives and 1 intellectual ball of mush, Anthony Kennedy), one guy, the intellectual mushball, is the deciding vote on ...
Lefties love Bill Dupray: "If you are unfamiliar with this guy, he's the kind of moron who shouldn't be allowed out in public without and [sic] escort and a special helmet. Everything on Patriot Room is either 1)wrong or 2) news to exactly nobody." - Daily Kos
